Tanzania and the JESUS Film Project

Hey guys!

Scott here. Thanks for all of the prayers while I was in Africa! It was a life-changing experience, and I’d like to tell you a little about what happened on the trip.

First, though, let me explain why I went. I have partnered with The JESUS Film Project, which is a ministry of Campus Crusade for Christ.

WHAT IS THE JESUS FILM?

The "JESUS" film is a docudrama based on the book of Luke. It has been seen by more than 5.5 billion viewers worldwide (think about that number for a minute!). So far, it’s been translated into over 830 languages and shown in every country of the world. I believe The "JESUS" film is probably the most effective tool for world evangelism ever developed, and I’m not the only one that thinks so. Click HERE to read the latest statistics.

TANZANIA

I was invited to join a group from The JESUS Film Project to bring a new translation of the film to the Hehe (pronounced "hay hay") people of Tanzania. We had some amazing experiences (which you can read about in the JOURNAL section). It was a blast to sample foods we had never heard of before and to just soak in all of the surrounding culture. Learning to speak through an interpreter was an interesting challenge - not to mention trying to communicate on my own with my limited Swahili and Hehe vocabulary. And how wonderful it was to find that, in spite of cultural and language differences, we shared a deep bond with believers on the other side of the world.

Still, what moved me most was the realization that the simple story of Christ is very, very powerful. Watching these people view The "JESUS" film, I felt as if I too were experiencing the story for the first time. With them, I fell in love with Jesus - this kind man who told wonderful stories and healed the sick. I wept with them as Christ was crucified. I rejoiced with them as He was resurrected. And as hundreds of them responded, I felt the stirrings of something new in my own heart.

The JESUS Film Project is committed to giving every person on earth at least one chance to see "JESUS". I’m convinced that our generation has a unique opportunity to fulfill the Great Commission - and the "JESUS" film is a tool that helps make this possible.

HERE’S HOW YOU CAN HELP:

  • Go on a SHORT-TERM MISSION TRIP. There are many, many opportunities available. One billion people in the world have never heard the name Jesus. You could be the first one to tell them! Click HERE for info.
  • FINANCIALLY SUPPORT a translation of the "JESUS" film. This is a wonderful project for your church or group. Click HERE to see how you can help.
  • Contact your LOCAL RADIO STATION and ask them to consider airing the daily missions news feature "The JESUS Film World Report", which I host. You can email them this link: http://www.jesusfilm.org/progress/audio.html so that they have all of the info they need.

Thank you for reading this far. I pray that you will also "get the bug" for world evangelism!

Because of Jesus,
