Although Scott Riggan has become known for his popular worship songs, he’s not exactly comfortable with the label of "worship artist".
"It’s true that my shows end with a time of worship," explains Scott, "and I do write a lot of worshipful songs. But my songwriting covers it all - love, faith, family - you name it. I don’t feel any need to limit my subject matter."
But with songs like "I Love You Lord" (his nationwide #1 radio hit) and his communion song "Remember" being sung in churches all over the US (and in other parts of the world), Scott started to feel some pressure to record a set of worship tunes for his second solo project.
"Everyone encouraged me to do a worship CD. Instead, I ended up writing a bunch of songs about what it means to be a worshiper." At the heart of Scott’s new project is a powerful verse of Scripture from the book of Romans:
"Therefore I urge you, brothers in view of God’s mercy,
to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing
to God - this is your spiritual act of worship..."

"In our culture, worship is something we do in a church building - we ‘worship’ and then the preacher gives a sermon," Scott explains. "But the way I see it, worship is better defined as a life lived in submission to our great and holy God. A life lived on the altar."
This idea of a life lived "on the altar" runs throughout "Bring Glory" in songs like "I Live To Praise You", "Altar of my Heart" and "Matches". The CD opens with "Great Is The Lord" and reaches a key moment with Scott’s song "Lay Me Down":
"I am a proud man in my heart of hearts
It is not in my nature to kneel
But falling down at the feet of the Lord of the stars
Now I know how humility feels..."

Scott's commitment to serving Almighty God has lead to some less-than typical career choices; he spent many years as an indie artist, largely as a way to maintain full control of his ministry. In addition, Scott frequently ministers overseas in places like Tanzania and Ghana as well as China, where Scott has toured extensively.
"We first toured China as guests of the Chinese government. It was an unprecedented opportunity to openly share the Gospel in public schools and distribute CDs." Prior to Scott's second tour, he produced a Mandarin Chinese worship CD that is now being distributed throughout the underground church movement.
After the success of Scott's previous singles ("I Love You Lord", "Remember", "Like Incense", "Great Is The Lord" and "Bring Glory"), Spring Hill has just released Scott's most powerful song yet: "SHOW THEM JESUS".
"This is the song I was born to write. I started the lyrics while in Africa, at a time when I was discovering how powerful the simple story of Christ is - and how hungry we all are for that story. A billion people on the planet have never even heard the name of Jesus - and you and I have the opportunity to be the first to tell them."
